  Forklift Class - I II III IV V VI VII

Course Description:

This is a fully comprehensive course designed for experienced lift truck operators with the skills and knowledge necessary for a variety of responsibilities and function involved in the operation and maintenance of the forklift. The training enforces the safety of the pedestrian and the operator. Pre-start up inspection and startup safety procedures, routine maintenance practice, and operating techniques are examined. This course is comprised of intensive classroom instruction, including discussion and a written test, as well as hands-on practical training and evaluation. At the conclusion of this program students should be able to demonstrate safe operation of forklift as required by the OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standard CFR- 29 -1910-178.

Upon successful completion of the course, the operator will be presented with a lift truck certificate as proof of training

 

Course Duration:

· 4 hours Theory and at end of course an Operator Evaluation Test )

· Four operators per session to allow for maximum instructor/operator interaction

 Program Outline:  

Theoretical

· Introduction to OSHA

· Standard Federal Requirements 29 CFR 1910.178

· Pedestrian awareness

· Basic principles: lift truck design and operation

· Parts of a truck/pre-shift inspection

· Operation of truck

· Fuel sources (battery and propane and Diesel / Gasoline)

· General safety rules/guidelines

· Summary (written test)

· Practical Operator evaluations Test (Must Pass)

Practical

· performing of pre-shift inspection

· battery maintenance and charging procedures

· propane cylinder exchange

· safe operating techniques

· load handling/selection

· dock safety

· extensive hands-on training and application

 Evaluations:

Must Pass Written Evaluation Test

Must Pass an Operator Practical Evaluation Test

 

School Equipment:     Students will have the opportunity to use the following school equipment as                                         required throughtout the program: Sit-Down I/C Counterbalance class IV lift truck
